The Florida State University Police Department

The mission of the Florida State University Police Department is to support the mission of the Florida State University by promoting a safe and secure higher education environment while providing proactive police and customer-related services aimed at reducing crime.

The Florida State University Police Department (FSUPD) is committed to providing Florida State University with a safe environment conducive to the goals of education and research. FSUPD shares many of the crime and safety issues that exist in any city. In partnership with the community, FSUPD works tirelessly to prevent crime and solve problems that affect students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The Florida State University Police Department is an accredited agency which was awarded its initial accreditation by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation on May 22, 2002. A re-evaluation of the agency occurs every three years. The Agency has been reaccredited after each on-site assessment. Florida State University Police Department was most recently awarded the status of reaccreditation in 2020 and has earned the prestigious award of an Excelsior Agency for the past two accreditation cycles.

Law Enforcement Officer

As a law enforcement officer at the Florida State University Police Department, in partnership with the community, we work to prevent crime and solve problems that affect students, faculty, and staff. FSUPD is seeking applicants who are willing to support the mission of the Florida State University by promoting a safe and secure higher education environment while providing proactive police and customer-related services aimed at reducing crime.

FSUPD Police Dispatcher

At the Florida State University Police Department, dispatchers are the lifeline between the people who require assistance and the police officers who respond on scene. In addition to answering the police department’s general administration line, FSUPD Dispatchers relay information to officers and first responders over the radio. Dispatchers are responsible for keeping track of the location and status of every on-duty officer and first responder.

FSUPD Non-Sworn Staff

The Florida State University Police Department employs non-sworn staff positions when those positions become available.  Non-Sworn positions include, but are not limited to, Information Technology, Records, Evidence, Crime Scene Investigations, Human Resources and other administrative positions.
